Summer, Summer, Summer time is in the air!! Rat and Dragon are finally out of school and we are spending a ton of time in our backyard. We are currently in a rental house in beautiful Southern California. We are only here for another year and then we head back to Virginia. In Virginia we have a big, beautiful backyard. Here, not so much. Actually it's a bit sad. The grass died and there is a cement wall running along one side. We had these big beautiful bushes with purple flowers that hung over our fence. It made a sweet, shady canopy but the neighbors cut it down and there went our shade along with all the hummingbirds. Nonetheless, I am grateful we even have a backyard. Many of the rentals we viewed didn't have a yard. I can't imagine having three boys and a 110lb dog with no yard. So, I have been on a mission to spruce this yard up!

Does it ever happen to you that when you really want something and you put out that energy things just happen. Well this has been the case lately. Dragon, Monkey, and I were playing at the park after preschool. As we were leaving we spotted a wicker love seat and wicker chair, looking as good as new out by the curb. Well, maybe not good as new, but good enough for a house with three boys. You KNOW I pulled Hilda over as quick as I could. I have to say as much as I resisted getting a van, it has been a Godsend for treasure hunting. Somehow I moved the stroller to the front seat tossed all the blankets and beach toys between the boys, folded down those seats and squeezed these two giant wicker pieces in! Dragon was cheering me on the entire way and Monkey was just watching in awe...or fear, not sure.

Just wait, it gets better!! A week later after dropping Rat at school, the Littles and I were on our way home and I spotted two iron chairs and a table. I circled back around. I actually pulled away thinking we didn't really need this set. NoFace actually brought home two chairs and a bench last fall that I still haven't refinished (YES I DID! CHECK IT OUT HERE) and I wasn't sure out this set would play into it. BUT that table was nice….or could be. Well, as I started to drive away, Dragon just about lost his mind. I am really creating a treasure hunting monster with this one. He insisted we needed that set and I was kind of with him. So we circled around the intersection while the man sweeping his driveway (who does that?!) watched. After the 3rd loop Dragon finally convinced me he was right. Down went the seats and in when the table and chairs. I still haven't made those over yet but I do have big plans. I just need a tile saw…
Any way, check out this chair and love seat! All it needed was a couple pillows! NEVER underestimate the power of pillows!!
