The Hutch or Is It A Buffet

I'm so excited!! I finally made over my hutch! I bought this hutch about four years ago! It was white with a "not my color blue" back. I have wanted to paint it ever since I brought it home from the thrift store but two more babies popped up and time slipped away.
Here is a terrible before picture, but you can get an idea of what the hutch looked like. It mostly became a catch all for everything.

I don't have a creative name because we have always called it "the hutch." However, to paint it I took the actual hutch part off and I like it so much better without. Technically, I think it would be considered a buffet, but changing four years of "the hutch" is hard to do.
I decided to use Fusion Mineral Paint in Putty and Raw Silk. Fusion is an acrylic based paint with a top coat built right in. This is a big piece so I was hoping for less steps!

Putty is a pretty neutral greige and Raw Silk is a warm white.

What a difference a little paint makes, eh!!?!? Since the outside is so neutral I wanted to have a little fun on the inside. I painted the trim of the doors in putty. I had a sample of Fusion's Coral paint that I had bought for another project but chickened out of. I did finally go coral though. You can see Trixie here! Full strength coral was a little intense, so I mixed it with about 5 parts of the Raw Silk to get a pale pinky coral color.

Are you eyeing that super cute bicycle paper? I had to add a bit of whimsy! I snagged this paper at Marshall's. I know this "hutch" will get a ton of use so I wanted to protect the paper a bit. I lined the paper with contact paper before lining the shelves and drawers. Fingers crossed it holds up to our craft supplies!

And how about those knobs? I found those at home depot. I love the smaller knobs. They make me think of the door knob in Alice In Wonderland! What do you think?

As for the hinges, I spray painted those babies!

The Hutch is a show stopper now and I just love opening her doors and seeing that pop of pink!! I have to sneak pink in where I can!! Rat wanted me to show off the elephant he put together! He is pretty impressive!
